Mumzy Stranger

Muhammad Mumith Ahmed (born 18 January 1984), better known by his stage name Mumzy Stranger, is a East London hip-hop, MC, R&B and soul singer. His debut single is “One More Dance” which was produced by Rishi Rich. His second single is “Showgirl” with his following single from his debut album, “Fly With Me” will be released in 2010. He performed “Fly With Me” at the UK AMA’s in 2009.

Early life
Mumzy was born and raised in Plaistow, East London, and he is of Bangladeshi origin. He is the second youngest of the six in his family. He started to be interested in music at the age of 11, and was influenced by his brothers’ music collections. He started out in UK Garage in 2000, and was involved in pirate radio until 2003 when he left as he felt like a stranger (from which he derived his stage name).

Mumzy was one of three finalists in BBC Asian Network’s Unsung competition in 2005 with his song Jump Up, after a friend of his sent in Mumzy’s demo tape. Mumzy recorded more songs including Know You Wanna Dance and We Gotto Get Goin’ and performed them at the Royal Festival Hall in South Bank, London, at the UK Asian Music Awards in 2008. He became a protege of Rishi Rich. His singles have been played on BBC Radio 1 by Nihal, and on the BBC Asian Network by Adil Ray. He performed during the Baishakhi Mela in Bethnal Green in London in 2008, at the 2009 Cardiff Mela, and supported Sean Kingston at the O2 Arena in November 2009.

His debut single One More Dance was produced by Rishi Rich and was released on 20 July 2009, but didn’t chart in the mainstream charts. The video was produced by BoxBot.co.uk for Tiffen Beat Records. His second single Showgirl was released in August 2009. His debut album is produced by Rishi Rich, Rax Timyr, Alan Sampson and Producer B. but has been pushed back a couple times and could be while before the album could be released officially. He has worked with H-Dhami, Malkit Singh, Sophie Choudry, Ramzi, Jassi Sidhu and many other artists..

He was nominated for Best UK Asian Act 2009 in the Urban Music Awards, which was won by RDB.In the BritAsia TV Music Awards, held at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham in May 2010, he was nominated for the ‘Best Newcomer Act’ and won ‘Best Urban Asian Act’, ahead of Jay Sean, AG Dolla, Sef, Roach Killa and Shizzio.
